Lily Allen under fire for glamourising drug-taking
Lily Allen has come under fire for glamourising drug-taking after admitting she snorted a line of ketamine at an awards ceremony.
The singer, 33, described how she passed out and had to be carried to a cab after snorting the horse tranquiliser, which she says she mistook for cocaine.
Allen made the revelation in response to a question posted on Twitter, which asked '[What is] the best reason you’ve been kicked out of an event, building or group.'
Following her candid confession, social media users have hit out at the pop star, saying her comments were 'disappointing' in light of her position as a role model to young girls.

The pop star's claims were backed up by comedian Alan Carr, who said he followed in the car behind her
Allen revealed on Twitter on Sunday that she had taken ketamine at the Glamour Awards in 2008.
Photographs from the ceremony show the singer being carried out of the event by security guards.
Describing what happened, Allen said: 'Someone gave me a line of what I assumed to be cocaine at the Glamour awards once, but it turned out to be Ketamine.

She added: 'Obviously I couldn’t talk, or direct the driver so my assistant instructed the occupant of the car behind to “follow that cab” I believe the occupant was @chattyman , I have no idea what happened next.'
Her claims were backed up by comedian Alan Carr, who posted: 'I followed in the car behind with her brother Alfie - but we some how got there before her but then she was put straight to bed and I remember helping myself to a vodka and chatting with Alfie and @samsparro most of the night.'

Allen has since responded on Twitter to criticism she was glamorousing drug-taking with her Glamour Awards revelation
However, Allen has since faced a backlash for glamourising drug-taking by sharing her story.
One Twitter user wrote: 'Is this really something to glamorise/ be proud of?'
Another added: 'How disappointing then that you tweet comments as earlier. Do you not even comprehend your role in many young girls lives.'

Social media users described her comments as 'disappointing' in light of her position as a 'role model' to young girls
Meanwhile, one social media user commented: 'What a brilliant role model you are! I certainly wouldn’t want any child of mine to look up to you or be inspired by you. Is there a new book to promote...'
Allen has hit back at the criticism, responding to a comment reading 'Your parents must be so proud' by saying: 'Yes, they are, #NoShame 8th June.'
She went on to describe herself as a 'often flawed but mostly loving, thoughtful, self sufficient, generous and empathetic human'.
